Achavanich Beaker Burial Project
One of the next things we are wanting to do is to create a comic book based on the research we've undertaken which will inform younger (and older) generations about the 'Ava' project and the Bronze Age in Caithness. In order to create the illustrations, I want to get people out into Caithness to 'repopulate' the Bronze Age landscape. We will take photographs which can then be used as a template for the comic book illustrations.
But to do this, I need people! We want everyone and anyone - young to old - to come along and join in.
Some of the scenes we might want to recreate include:
- The burial
- The creation of the burial pit
- Fishing, farming and tending livestock
- Family life / the living situation
- Visiting existing sites
- Overlooking the landscape
- Picking wild plants
- And more (or less!)
It's also a chance to go out into the landscape and see the location of the burial and ask any questions you might have.
I'll finalise details closer to the time once we have a rough idea of how many folk are coming.
