Other than human and animal effort, the Redcastle burn was the 
only source of power available to the lairds of Redcastle prior to the late 19th century. Remarkably, a wealth of evidence still exists to show how the burn’s power was harnessed to drive three mill wheels, generate electricity and pump drinking water into the Redcastle. This walk along the burn’s banks will reveal all.
