The 3 day celebration kicks off with a walk in Inverness
Bob Jones of NOSAS will lead a guided walk around the Muirtown Basin, where the Caledonian Canal meets the Moray Firth. See this blog post if you would like to see more information about the sites on this walk.
Park cars at the Muirtown Basin car park at NH 654 459. This is represented by a red car on this map. (Instructions: as the A862 (Beauly & Cannich) road leaves Inverness, it goes over the canal. Turn right, ie north, just before the swing bridge, along the side of the canal. There is car parking along this road. NH 6540 4583)
Meet at the cross on this map. (Instructions: from the car parking place, cross the A862 and walk south towards the first lock. Bob will be waiting there.)
The walk is about 4kms, and should take 2.5-3 hours. Tea in the cafe afterwards!
