David Newman of Uist will present some interesting observations from his survey of Uist structural remains.

David Newman was an architect on the west coast of Argyll, having worked on building new and renovating old buildings during his professional life, with a particular interest in vernacular buildings. After retiring in 2012 he developed an interest in the buildings of the Uists, moving to North Uist in 2014. He now lives on Grimsay off Benbecula. Together with two colleagues he has undertaken extensive survey of previously unrecorded prehistoric features on South Uist, the low-level shielings of the Uists and most recently the deserted thatched buildings of North Uist
