Online MAD Evening: Skeletons in the Archive: Rediscovering Old Museum Collections
5 August 2021
Starts: 19:30
Ends: 21:00

Juliette Mitchell will talk about the work she has done exploring the archives

Juliette Mitchell did her PhD on Pictish burials in the landscape and then started work for CFA Archaeology. Whilst there she did some archaeology in the museum archives: I got funding from HES to radiocarbon date some skeletons in the archive. There was a a treasure trove of unpublished information in Aberdeen museums and old newspapers for 8 long cists on the Kincardineshire coast, and I dated Neolithic remains from the Ackergill archive. The archive work was as interesting as the radiocarbon dates.

She will talk us through what she's discovered.
