A MAD Evening: Mill Studies and Surveys
11 April 2024
Starts: 19:30
Ends: 21:30

Roland Spencer-Jones will coordinate an evening about mills and milling.

At Ferintosh Church Hall in the middle of Conon Bridge. Park in the large car park. NH 54259 55557. Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qp9bvSp3JmbPiWEC6.

Mills are fascinating physical, legal and social structures. In many communities, they were the social centre, the gossiping place, the producer of most of the poor Scot's food. Mills had different owners over time. The miller was the source of much calumny, deserved or otherwise. And they were works of craft and ingenuity, with a legion of tradespeople servicing them - wheelwrights, millwrights, stonewrights, millers, etc.

During this evening, several NOSAS members will present a mill that they find interesting. We'll look at the maps, and see if we can winkle out a project or two.

Do you have a mill that you would like to bring? If so, contact roland.spencerjones@gmail.com and we can discuss how you can do that.
