Note the venue for the season's MAD evenings - St Ninian's Church Hall in Culduthel Road, Inverness. This link will allow Google Maps to get you there.
Bruce Keith is a retired chartered surveyor and environmentalist. Having started his professional career working on several Perthshire and Aberdeenshire estates, and in Edinburgh with the Department of Agriculture, he then moved south of the border to Peterborough in 1996 as Chief Surveyor with English Nature. He kept his Scottish connections however. Retiring ten years ago as Head of Property at SSE (the Hydro Board) Bruce then researched and wrote three books that combinehis passion for Scottish history, geography and landscape with his interest in heritage conservation.
During this evening, Bruce takes us on a journey with his first book, "Bridgescapes" - a celebration of Scotland's bridge building heritage. To quote John Buchan: "The bridge is a symbol of man’s engagement with nature. History – social, economic and military – clusters more thickly about bridges than about towns and cities".
