Tarradale 2D: Coastal Resilience in 7th Millenium BC
This paper will present the results of fieldwork and post-excavation analysis undertaken at Tarradale 2D. The results of this work will be placed in the wider context of the Scottish Mesolithic, and the turbulent events of the late 7th Millenium cal BC. New evidence from Tarradale is beginning to challenge the established narrative of settlement disruption and demographic collapse associated with the Storegga Tsunami and 8.2 Climatic event, as a portrait of resilience and adaptation within the fisher-hunter-gatherer communities of Scottish Mesolithic begins to emerge from the archaeology of the Black Isle.
