Visit the Strathfarrar Graphite Mine

This will be a joint field trip with NOSAS and Strathglass Heritage to the graphite mine in Glen Strathfarrar.  This is one of only three historic graphite mines in the UK, and was worked for a short period in the early 19th century.  The visit will be to the remains of the mine buildings, the access routes, and the mine workings.  The guide to the site will be Roland Spencer-Jones who has made a study of the mine and its history.  (Roland will be giving a talk about the mine to Strathglass Heritage on 7th July)

Meet: in the car park just before the gate in Glen Strathfarrar (NH 39398 40584), to amalgamate cars and drive along the glen together.
